'Kassandra and the Common Magpie'
Taken from the Familiar Females collection and inspired by folklore and classical beauty, Kassandra and the Common Magpie pairs a poised female figure with one of the most recognisable and intelligent birds. Framed by a vivid green backdrop, Kassandra's leafy crown and flowing garments evoke a sense of quiet wisdom, creating a portrait that feels both ancient and timeless.
A4, 310gsm smooth rag giclée print, packaged with protective sleeve and backing board.
Polly is an Edinburgh-based illustrator whose work focuses on character, symbolism and the reimagining of familiar archetypes. Originally from the pebble beaches of Somerset, Polly has spent a decade living in Italy, where ancient cities, hidden caves and winding waterways deepened her fascination with myth, folklore and storytelling. Drawn to contrast - in medium, imagery and ideas - she creates striking works that invite viewers to imagine the stories behind them.
Her debut collection, Familiar Females, explores the relationship between women and their avian familiars, challenging traditional depictions of witches and reclaiming familiar narratives through portraits of women who are distinctive, self-assured and powerful in their own right.
