Wheel of Fate is hiring two retail assistants! 

Wheel of Fate is a creative space with an emphasis on folk arts and witch crafts. Our mission is to provide authentic, meaningful crafts for visitors and locals and promote British heritage crafts. We offer retail products including art from local artists, take-home crafting kits, an online store, as well as on-site craft workshops. 

The position advertised is the role of Shop Assistant, a non-teaching role. We are looking for two welcoming, reliable and creative people to work in our shop serving customers, maintaining the retail shop, and directing workshop attendants. This is a conversation-heavy role, where knowledge and enthusiasm about handcrafts and witchcraft are a huge plus. The right candidate for this role will be passionate about the mission of Wheel of Fate, be confident chatting to strangers, and will embrace the fluid and creative work environment. The Shop Assistant will work in a reception role as well as processing and selling stock. 

Pay is £12.88/hr with paid lunch breaks. 3 days/week, 7.25 hours per day. This position is in-person, part-time permanent contract with the possibility of adding more shifts during the busy season (late Summer and Autumn). Weekend availability a must. Start date ASAP. 

You must be 18+ and eligible to work in the UK. 

Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

- Welcoming customers and directing workshop attendees 
- Running POS, till, and appointment app 
- Packing online orders 
- Merchandising and display 
- Maintain shop cleanliness and organisation 
- Fielding customer inquiries in person, on the phone, and via app 
- Reporting to management with updates, reviews, issues relating to product quality, performance, shop needs, etc. 
- Social Media 

Candidate Requirements: 

- 2+ years’ experience in retail essential, with receptionist experience a plus 
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in customer service 
- Keen interest in handcrafts (especially fibre arts) and witchcraft/magic 
- Organisation and strong attention to detail 
- Ability to take direction and implement tasks 
- Technologically proficient (especially point of sale and social media)
