This unusual mug is made from a mixture of stoneware clays to create the marbled effect visible in the unglazed areas. It’s glazed in a jade-coloured glaze with dark brown micro-crystals. There is a cute small black creature sitting on the top of the handle and biting the rim. Mixing the clays made the surface coarser (small sand specks) which gives the unglazed areas a sandy texture and creates an interesting effect where glazed. It’s a nice size mug that holds about 12 oz/360ml.
Weronika Filinger's first contact with clay and pottery was more than 20 years ago, but she didn't come back to it until after lockdown. She loves experimenting with different clays (black, grey, chocolate, buff, cream, white and red) and trying decorative techniques: carving, Sgraffito, applique and transfers. She also has a serious obsession with glazes, so no two pieces are the same. Though still at the start of her ceramics journey, Weronika hopes you will enjoy using her pieces as much as she enjoyed making them.
