Join Serafima Mehhovits on Saturday the 30th of June for a natural dyeing workshop at Wheel of Fate!

In this workshop you will learn to eco-print on silk with locally foraged plants, kitchen scraps and traditional dyes. This is an opportunity to explore the simple technique of applying plant colour to fabric. Create your own piece of unique plant impressions to take home.

While the silk bundles simmer, we will explore the stories, uses and origins of the plants we work with in this session. You can use this dyed silk piece as an embelishment on a piece of clothing, an altar cloth, or a small wall hanging. The focus of this session is on eco-printing as a playful way of connecting to plants that pass through our hands and some that grow abundantly in the Lothians, Scotland.

The resulting prints might be immediately pleasing, and most plants on offer have been tested to create colour on cloth. However, dyes do not always come out as planned, so we ask that you be open to disappointment! It is part of getting to know this technique and will serve you time and time again to experiment with something without knowing how it will turn out, making that special time when it does work out all the more fulfilling.

If its the start of your eco-printing journey or you want to hang out with others doing a well loved craft of yours, you are welcome to join!
