Cherry Blossom Mug

This chunkier mug is made from white stoneware clay and is decorated with cherry blossom transfers. It’s glazed in deep red inside and on the handle, and transparent outside. It has a small dark spot close to the rim (most likely some inorganic particle mixed in the clay that came to surface in the glaze firing) making it even more unique. Don’t worry it doesn’t affect the functionality of the piece. It’s a bigger size mug that holds about 14oz/420ml.

Weronika Filinger's first contact with clay and pottery was more than 20 years ago, but she didn't come back to it until after lockdown. She loves experimenting with different clays (black, grey, chocolate, buff, cream, white and red) and trying decorative techniques: carving, Sgraffito, applique and transfers. She also has a serious obsession with glazes, so no two pieces are the same. Though still at the start of her ceramics journey, Weronika hopes you will enjoy using her pieces as much as she enjoyed making them.
